When clients first discover modular space capsules, their biggest question is almost always the same: Can it ship in one piece, or does it need to be assembled on site? The answer determines everything from freight cost to installation time.
In this article, we walk you through both delivery formats using real production photos from our factory floor.
What You're Looking At
The render above shows the finished product: model MH7-40, a turnkey modular cabin with a clean white exterior, dark aluminum window frames, warm wood-veneer accent panels, and floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors. Inside, you can see a fully fitted bar counter with stools, a lounge area, and a bathroom. This cabin arrives ready to connect to utilities and move in.
The factory photos tell the other half of the story: curved aluminum wall panels being fabricated on production lines, stacks of insulated roof and wall sections wrapped for shipping, and corner modules packed into wooden crates with glass panels and insulation boards carefully nestled inside.
Two Delivery Formats, Two Business Models
1. Finished (Turnkey) Cabin
When the MH7-40 ships as a complete unit, every interior detail—flooring, lighting, bathroom fixtures, kitchenette, and HVAC—is already installed in the factory.
Best for:
Small projects (1–5 cabins)
Locations with limited local construction labor
Quick deployment (glamping resorts, pop-up hotels)
Trade-off: The finished cabin is large (roughly 12 m × 3.3 m × 3.2 m). Shipping requires a flat-rack (FR) container, and over-dimension surcharges apply. Total freight per cabin is higher, but on-site work is limited to leveling the foundation and connecting utilities.
2. CKD Knock-Down (Flat-Packed Components)
The second and third images show exactly how this works. The cabin is broken down into:
Curved aluminum wall and roof panels
Structural steel/aluminum frames
Glass doors and windows
Insulation boards
Interior finish panels, bathroom fixtures, and electrical components
Everything is packed into standard 40HQ shipping containers. On arrival, a local team assembles the cabin using the provided bolt-together manual.
Best for:
Bulk orders (10+ units)
Projects where local labor is affordable
Markets where over-dimension cargo fees are prohibitive
Buyers who want to handle interior finishing themselves
Trade-off: Freight drops by roughly 40–50% because standard containers cost less than flat-racks. However, on-site assembly takes 3–5 days per cabin and requires a basic crew with hand tools.
Why CKD Makes Sense for International Buyers
For our overseas clients in Europe, Australia, and the Middle East, the knock-down option is often the more economical choice for three reasons:
Container efficiency: A standard 40HQ container packs significantly more component sets than a flat-rack can carry finished cabins.
No OOG surcharges: Knock-down cargo fits inside a standard container, avoiding out-of-gauge handling fees at ports.
Local assembly flexibility: Buyers can hire local subcontractors at a fraction of the cost of flying out our installation team.
Quality Control Doesn't Change
Whether a cabin ships finished or knock-down, every panel goes through the same factory process shown in the photos: aluminum framing, polyurethane or rock-wool insulation, exterior fluorocarbon coating, and interior finish application. Knock-down does not mean lower quality—it simply means the final assembly step happens at your site instead of ours.
Which Should You Choose?
表格
| Factor | Finished Cabin | CKD Knock-Down |
|---|---|---|
| Freight cost per cabin | Higher (FR container) | Lower (standard 40HQ) |
| On-site labor | Minimal (hook up utilities) | 3–5 days assembly |
| Best order size | 1–5 units | 10+ units |
| Shipping time | 35–45 days | 35–45 days |
| Interior customization | Factory-installed | Local or factory-installed |
There is no single right answer. It depends on your order volume, your local labor costs, and how quickly you need the cabins operational.
